I'm the same way, I'll be honest. Unless I'm in a particularly adventurous mood, I'm usually going to go with my usual.

Lately, there have been a handful of restaurants that are starting to force me to think outside the menu. One of my favorites, Uberrito, is a regional make your own style restaurant that has burritos, nachos, tacos and more.

Every time I go, I want to try something new and usually I do! So, I partnered with their executive chef to share 5 insane burrito combinations you need to try right now! These can be made at their restaurants located throughout Houston and Phoenix (but expanding across the country) or at home! These recipes are designed to make you think outside the?usual burrito combination with protein and topping combinations that are to die for!

Shrimp?& Tomatillo Salsa Burrito with Jicama Slaw

Grilled Shrimp

I'm not usually a huge shrimp fan but of these five burritos, this was one of my favorites! The shrimp at?Uberrito is made to order which I loved finding out! There was a spicy after taste from the chipotle aioli and the jicama slaw was actually one of my favorite elements, too.

Fajita Beef &?Pickled Jalape?o Burrito with Serrano Ranch

If the idea of branching outside of your usual menu is a little nerve-wracking for you, then this burrito is a great way to begin. This burrito combination has great flavor from the fajita beef and is flavorful throughout because of the toppings.

Shredded Pork & Cojita Cheese with Spicy Avocado

Sour Cream
Cojita Cheese

This was easily my second favorite! Typically I go for chicken, so with my top two picks being shrimp and shredded pork, this experiment certainly worked for me. I loved the cojita cheese in this recipe, cojita cheese is dry and salty and worked very well to balance to flavors in this burrito.

Grilled Chicken & Jalape?o Cheddar Burrito

Grilled Chicken
Cilantro Lime Rice
Black Beans
Saut?ed Spinach
Queso
Pico de Gallo
Green Onions
Sour Cream

As I said, before this experiment, this burrito probably would've been my choice. I'm known for going for chicken every time. This burrito was really good, too, though! The queso and saut?ed spinach were my two favorite parts and the jalape?o cheddar tortilla was a great?burst of flavor, too.

Shredded Beef with Smoky Arbol Sauce

Pico de Gallo

This burrito won the most flavorful award. There was THE perfect amount of spice. Not too much, not smack-you-in-the-face spicy, just enough to warm you up! I loved the shredded beef combined with chipotle aioli and the smoky arbol sauce. So much flavor!

The key to all of these burritos is the protein variation and FRESH toppings. There are so many combinations that can come about just from the ingredients used in these five burrito recipes.

  1. I want the Grilled Chicken & Jalapeno Cheddar one! These all sound so good. Every time you post an Uberrito picture I wish I could eat there. If only I lived closer!

  2. After reading this I kind of want to make a thanksgiving burrito dinner . I'm a huge fan!! Funny thing is that I'm Mexican and (till last year) I lived in Mexico for my entire life and I only ate burritos twice over there . It is really hard to find them

  3. I'm not at all ashamed to admit we eat burritos or burrito bowls at least once a week. Sometimes more. (; Always looking for ways to "spice up" - all puns intended- our Mexican nights!
