Ingredients

loaf Italian
French, sourdough or rustic bread

tablespoons
½ stick unsalted butter, cut into slices
1
cup
shredded Mozzarella or Italian blend cheese
2-3
cloves
garlic
very thinly sliced
Instructions
Cut bread into ½-inch slices. Generously cover each piece of bread with butter slices.
Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over each slice.
Place sliced garlic on top of the cheese.
Bake at 400°F for 20 minutes (or until cheese is almost melted).
If desired, broil on low for 5 minutes for a golden brown effect.
Notes
Sprinkle with Italian seasoning (before baking) or fresh parsley (after baking) for a punch of extra flavor.
Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
