To a small bowl, add softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
Spoon butter mixture onto a sheet of parchment paper, set about 1 inch in from one of the longer sides. Using the paper to guide you, roll the herb butter up into a log shape. Twist the ends of the paper to close. *Alternatively, spoon the mixture into a small serving dish.
Chill the log of compound butter in the refrigerator or freeze until firm. When ready, unwrap the log and use a sharp knife to cut slices.
Notes
If you use salted butter, skip the salt called for in this recipe.
