Preheat oven to 400ºF (204°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat, and set aside.
Mix together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
Pour in melted butter and gently stir. Add the milk and mix until dough comes together. Immediately drop biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet and transfer to the oven.
Bake for 15 minutes until biscuits are golden brown. Brush with melted butter if desired!
Notes
The dough should be thick and scoopable, like thick muffin batter. It won't be pourable like pancake batter but definitely thicker than traditional cut out biscuits. If you can't scoop your batter into mounds, you may have added too much milk. Add a tablespoon or two of flour at a time until you get the right consistency (see photos in recipe card for examples). If your dough is too stiff to scoop easily, add a tablespoon of milk at a time until it reaches the proper consistency.
