Weekends are my absolute favorite. They’re filled with free time, time to rest, time to catch up on work and catch up with friends. It’s not that I dislike the weekdays, but the weekend mornings are slow which is exactly what I need after a 40 hour work week. Our weekend morning routines always include a homemade and delicious breakfast and today’s featured a Libert? caramel and strawberry parfait.
My weekend morning routine, when we are in town, is usually the same. We wake up without an alarm (or by Azi waking us up!), roll out of bed slowly, get the coffee brewing and sit down to enjoy breakfast together. Our computer aren’t out, our phones are still in the other room and we just enjoy each other’s company. We love having big breakfasts to fill us up for the day ahead, no matter what’s on our agenda!
I’ve never enjoyed eating eggs, so breakfasts are often a challenge for me, especially during the week as I’m rushing off to work. Breakfasts happen to be my favorite type of meal though, so on the weekends we go all out. This week’s menu included the simplest yogurt parfait with Caramel Libert? Yogurt, granola and fresh strawberries plus homemade strawberry scones to celebrate Valentine’s!
Part of the reason I love slow mornings so much is the opportunity to sit and reflect. Though I am not good about spending time in the Word every morning, slow mornings give me time to think and pray through the day ahead. It’s always a time to reflect on the day before and the challenges of the day ahead.
“Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love,?for in you I trust.?Make me know the way I should go,?for to you I lift up my soul.” Psalm 143:8
Having a delicious breakfast forces me to slow down and sit which helps me to have that time to reflect. Libert?’s?newest flavors, Cappuccino and Caramel make that so easy. You can enjoy this yogurt topped with granola and fruit like I have, use it for a breakfast smoothie or even use it to whip up some muffins or scones. The flavors will carry through to any recipe you use featuring Libert?!
