It took me a while to hop on the donut train. Not saying I haven't always loved donuts, I definitely have. But as far as making them at home? It took me a while. To give you an idea, I believe it was Christmas 2015 that I received a donut pan. I didn't make my first set of donuts until fall 2017. Oops!
It wasn't for lack of baking, there are always goods baking in my house. More so it was my lack of experience with baking donuts that was standing in my way. If you've baked anything before, regardless of if it was homemade or from a box mix, you know that all kinds of baked goods have a different consistency for the batter and the final results. I had no clue what kind of consistency was needed for donuts!
But, it turns out that the actual?donut pan takes a lot of the guess work out for you because basically any batter that is basically a cake, bread/muffin, or?brownie consistency will work in donut form! Now that I've discovered this, it's going to be very difficult to go back to baking things in any shape other than donut shape.
These donuts could not be easier and while I love the process of baking from scratch, there are some times where that's just not an option. These strawberry brownie donuts are made with a handful of ingredients, including?Pillsbury? Large Pan Milk Chocolate Brownie Mix?(10 for $10 from 2/4-2/17),?Crisco? Vegetable Oil, fresh strawberries and topped using?Pillsbury? Filled Pastry Bag Vanilla Flavored Frosting, which is amazing if like me, you?love frosting but have a hard time with getting the right consistency. I was able to pick up all of the ingredients I needed right in the baking aisle at Target (plus the produce aisle for the strawberries, of course).
The Pillsbury? Filled Pastry Bag Vanilla Flavored Frosting is also amazing if you don't feel like struggling with filling a pastry bag full of frosting and trying to figure out how to get it to work. This frosting is ready to pipe straight onto your yummy strawberry brownie donuts! These donuts can be completed from start to finish in way less time than baking a pan of brownies and again, who doesn't?love something in donut shape?!
These strawberry brownie donuts are perfect for Valentine's Day, whether you're celebrating with friends for Galentine's Day or with your significant other and want to share a special indulgent treat! They work great as either mini donuts or full size, but I found that for decorating with the pastry bag of frosting, the larger size worked a little better.
