Just like with my pregnancy updates, I don’t plan to post monthly updates about Greyson. But, it seems like SO much has changed in him over the last four months and I really want to be able to document that. I’m terrible at keeping a journal or anything like that, and this blog is such a fun way for me to look back on different points in my life. So I decided it would be the perfect day, since he is four months exactly today, to share a little Grey update!?
When you’re living out a baby’s changes from day to day, you really don’t see them. It’s so strange to look back on photos of Grey when he was born and to see how different he is now! Of course I see his developmental changes but because I’m always staring at his little face, I hardly notice that his face has rounded out, his belly is fuller and more round and his little legs have tiny rolls. Thank goodness for technology that let’s us see those little changes over time!
Right after Greyson was born, someone randomly told me that I needed to take photos of his feet. I had no idea why (other than just assuming that baby feet are so precious) but I’m glad I did. These photos of his little toes are some of my favorite and I know in a year I’ll look back and miss how tiny his little feet were.
I know every month will feel like a big month for him but the transition from 3 months to 4 has been a big one for Greyson! He’s?just shy of being able to sit up on his own, but he loves sitting on my lap facing me and looking around while I just barely hold him up with his arms. He’s started to like tummy time again now that he can prop himself up with his arms, but only for a few minutes. This little boy is on the move and I swear he’s ready to start walking already! He’s learned to kick himself in a circle, which isn’t ideal for his tiny pack n play that he now fills up!
He’s still exclusively breastfeeding and refusing a bottle or pacifier, but we don’t mind. His hair has gone from reddish to blonde and is now usually light brown, unless he’s just out of the bath. He loves bathtime again, after having a few weeks where it freaked him out. He’s found his hands and constantly has his little fingers in his mouth. He’s also learned to pick up his legs and roll to his side seamlessly. He’s only rolled over once, but it was enough to realize he can’t be left alone unless it’s on a big space where he can’t roll off.
He and Azi get along great, as long as Azi’s allowed to lick his face. If she’s not, she’s not really too interested in him. She doesn’t mind if he kicks her in the side or face, and almost always will try to lay on his blankets if she’s left alone. I know they’ll be the best of buddies soon!
Greyson’s finally realized there are other people in the world who can hold him, not just Mama. He loves his Pop Pop and Mimi and, of course, hanging out with Daddy. He attended his first wedding this past weekend and did amazing! He let all of the other bridesmaids hold him while I got ready and absolutely loved our new ring sling! Everyone complimented him on how well behaved and just a happy baby he is. We were very proud.
He learned to full on laugh this month and hearing his laugh and seeing his sweet smile all the time has been the biggest joy for all of us. He’s also become a bit bashful and sometimes when someone says hi to him, he’ll bury his head in my shoulder like he’s trying to be shy. He’s just the sweetest thing!
He’s weighing a little over 15 lbs these days (his last check up was three weeks ago so I’m not sure on his exact weight) and he was 26″ tall at his appointment! His favorite toys are his baby gym from IKEA, the Oball, and his rattle giraffe (affiliate links). He’s also obsessed with blankets and gets comforted almost immediately once you put one on his lap in his car seat. He also loves putting his blanket in his mouth but hasn’t quite figured out how to put other toys in his mouth.
I just really cannot get over the joy that it is to be his Mama!
